I really can't add to the other reviews other than to say this book moved me in ways few others have. You will want to savor and ration it, lest you reach the end.
I was recently hiking in Coyote Gulch and while marveling at its incredible beauty, ran into a Park Ranger who said "...and just realize, this is but a remanent of what they destroyed with Lake Powell".

Fixing Positions Review

This book goes into a decent amount of detail on the author's travels to four different areas of the west: Lake Powell, San Juan Islands, Los Angeles coast, and the Baja. If you plan or are considering planning a trip to one of these regions, this book has a lot of good information on the areas the author travelled. There are also some general information sections on trailersailing in general, what to pack, how to prepare, trailers, etc.
I gave it three stars because, frankly, I find the writing style to be dry, and to lack the emotional connection with sailing I find in so many other books. It reads like a log book that has been fleshed out with some of the local flavor. From the critiques given by others to the author's other books, apparently many people disagree. An avid trailersailor myself, I had really looked forward to this book, and may still purchase the author's more recent writings. For a different approach to the San Juans I would recommend "a dream of islands" by Teece.
In any event, I certainly don't want to discourage trailer sailors from writing, there is so little out there for us.
