Electric Cars The Future is Now: Your Guide to the Cars You Can Buy Now and What the Future Holds Review

I was really disappointed with this book, it focuses on the authors own opinion about electric cars and skips the facts. Worse, some of the points that are claimed as fact are actually wrong. Not just the specification or abilities of some of the cars that are included, but the vehicle classifications and, far worse, the environmental argument where the author just simply has not done his research and produced some 'facts' that are so wrong, they're absolutely unacceptable.
I've been following the electric vehicle scene for a few years and bought myself a GEM electric vehicle a year ago for short journeys. I bought this book because it seemed to provide all the information about the latest electric cars and the technology and I was interested in learning about what is new. I should not have wasted my money.
Firstly, the author seems to be too intent on pushing his own opinion onto other people, rather than relaying any facts. He sneers about a lot of the vehicles that are on the market and makes claims that he does not back up. I'm not interested in his opinion about people who drive a G-Wiz or the sort of American who buys a LEAF. As I have already mentioned, in some areas, such as the environmental debate, the author really does not seem to have done any homework at all.
Much of the information that is in the book is already out of date. This is especially true of the electric 'cars' that are listed in the book, some of which appear to be little more than bicycles, most of which are not available and in some cases, will never be available because the companies that build them went out of business some time ago.
After reading the book, I had the very strong impression that this author has never owned an electric car himself. I then found his own blog which seemed to be full of even more of his own opinions and seemed to back this impression up - at no point does the author say that he has owned an electric car himself, or even used one other than for a quick demonstration run. I did attempt to get in touch with the author via his web site to ask him to clarify a couple of things he talks about in his book. I am still waiting for a reply.
How can somebody write a book on electric cars if they have no first hand experience of using one? This is a very, very poor book. If you know nothing about electric cars, this book will misinform you. If you know even a little bit about electric cars, you'll very quickly realize you know more about them than this author obviously does.
