NRS Swiftwater Rescue Manual By Slim Ray Review

A good text for introducing what you need to understand before taking a course on swiftwater rescue. Combined with the guidance of experienced instructors, this book will be a good start to your water rescue career. As always, though, don't expect it to substitute for field work and safety sense...

Technical Rescuer: Water, Levels I and II Review

The Tactical Rescuer book is an excellent resource. Obviously the author has an excellent background and experince to go along with technical expertise. I have used the publication as a resource for teaching Public Safety Diving classes and found new perspectives to offer. Mr. Treinish pulls together a number of resources and I am in full agreement with that approach.
The one piece that seems to be missing is the "system" for public safety diving portion of the publication. The "system" connects the mission, standards, equipment, training, personnel, and team performance. (Maybe I will have to author my own "Systems Approach to Public Safety Dive Teams").
In addition to the exceptional content of the publication, it is well designed, good photos, great print font for studying, nice margins for making notes, good photos that appear current, and an interesting read. Buy and enjoy!
