Places in the Heat Review

Okay I admit I am a Dennis Foster devotee and love his style of writing...it's so personal, so vivid, so original and really really funny. Following his travel adventures through his blog is a blast so I had to get this book too. I get a vicarious kick out of his adventures but would never want to experience them myself; they are too scary at my age! I prefer to read about man-eating sharks, or being stalked by lions, or jumping off a high cliffs from a distance; in my armchair. I literally couldn't put this book down. The novel that takes up the last half of the book is intelligent, witty, and wonderful; a parody of every adventure book and movie ever made, and also of modern advertising and stuffy scientific dissertations. In conjunction with his travel memoirs, it's fascinating to see how he weaves his real life experiences into the story. You won't be disappointed here folks, you'll probably be hooked like I am! Give me more!
