New Starter Mercury Outboard Jet Drive 175-240 HP Review

Product came promptly as advertised. Form factor was a perfect match to existing Mercury starter used on '97 175HP XR2.
Had problems when the pinion gear disengaged from the flywheel gear it would jam in the 'off' state. Then, when you'd try to crank the next time it would not pop up and drive the flywheel. I'd have to take a big screwdriver, give it a little pry up, and then it would work. I did this for 6-7 trips. Then, I shot a little(not a lot) WD-40 on top of the mechanism and over the next few times this problem went away. It's been working reliably since(5 times out).
Since the price was so good, I put up with the hassle and it's paid off. If it wasn't for this problem, I'd have rated it a 5.
