This is a book for kids (7-14) about a boy's adventures growing up in Huslia, a village in the Alaskan interior where the author was a teacher in the 1960s. My daughter was utterly fascinated by the story, and how it tells about an amazingly different way of life: Dog racing, a potlatch, traditional storytelling, hunting for caribou, muskrat, and of course bears, the book is a fun journey of exploration into traditional Koyukon Indian ways!
